Projects
The Kawasaki Suite
A major collaborative composition project in partnership Drake Music, the British Council, Kawasaki City and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. Japanese musicians worked in three schools to develop musical ideas that I arranged and orchestrated for the TSO.
Here you can watch the premiere performance conducted by Keitaro Harada.
The Kawasaki Suite - making of
Here you can watch a short ‘making of’ documentary of Kawasaki Suite project, outlining the process and impact for participants and musicians.
Augmented Reality in Piano Tuition
I led a major action-research project in partnership with the Royal College of Music and four Music Education hubs, exploring the benefits and limitations of using Augmented Reality in beginner piano tuition for 13-16 year olds.
The Lancashire Accessible Technology Library
This library is the first of its kind in the UK, enabling schools across Lancashire to loan accessible instruments for their pupils.
Developed in partnership with Charanga and Lancashire Music Hub, and based on extensive piloting in schools across the county, the aim of the library is to ensure all young people in Lancashire with additional needs have access to an instrument that meets their needs, interests and abilities.
The library won ‘Digital Product of the Year’ and ‘Talk into Action’ awards at the 2024 Musicmark awards.
Iroiro-neiro (Many Colours)
In my role as Associate Musician at Drake Music, and as part of a wider aim to create a community of inclusive musicians in Kawasaki, Japan, I ran three hybrid delivery/training projects between 2022-2024 as part of the Kawasaki Jazz Festival. We worked with members of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestras as well as local jazz musicians to offer community performance projects to citizens of Kawasaki.

The Great Big Orchestra Project
A truly wonderful project that brought together two senior hub orchestras from Nottingham and Northamptonshire to provide interactive performances for pupils in specialist schools.
The UpRising Resource Balloon
A groundbreaking, multi-award winning online resource for anyone working with pupils with additional needs.
The Balloon, developed as part of the MEHEM UpRising project, was developed in response to a paucity of practical resources for teachers working in inclusive settings, especially for pupils with the most complex needs.
Charanga CREATE
A series of iPad-based composition projects for non-specialist teachers.
Over the Digital Horizon
A webinar series, curated in partnership with Wiltshire Music Connect and hosted by Musicmark, that invited innovators and leaders from around the world to share their vision of the future of music education.
Transformance Music
Loads of iPad-based resources, including my textbook and video series ‘Teaching Music with Garageband for iPad’.
